Weekend Lake Report

I'm On A Boat

Yes Kelowna, summer is finally here! Saturday was perfect by my standards: Hot and sunny (don’t let the heat fool you though, the lake is still freezing).

I was able to spend the majority of my Saturday on the lake with some friends riding some waves and catching some rays. We also ran into some kayaking friends celebrating a stag (hence the leys, butterfly wings, and shell bra). The water was decently calm and boat traffic was minimal for a hot weekend.

Although most people attribute being on a boat to getting liquored up, playing “I”m On A Boat” at full volume on repeat, and yelling at people on the beach, none of these played a factor in our summer afternoon – it was all about the good vibes, good music, and good friends.

I highly recommend that everyone put in some quality beach time this summer whether it be on a boat or on a beach because what would Kelowna be without Lake Okanagan? If you’re into water sports but you don’t have the means then check out www.lakefrontsports.com. Situated at the Delta Grand Okanagan downtown, Lakefront Sports has got you covered for all your summer water needs. From wakeboarding to waterskiing, boat and sea-doo rentals, to parasailing and (for those of you looking for something a bit more tame) a ride around the Grand lagoon in your very own Ogopogo pedal boat – they have it all.

Enjoy the summer and, as Baz Luhrmann reminds us, “Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.”
