Across The Lake Swim

The Across The Lake Swim is taking place on Saturday July 17th, and close to 400 swimmers will be completing the ultimate Okanagan challenge, swimming across Okanagan Lake.

Kelowna’s annual Across The Lake Swim has long been advertised as the longest continuously running open water swim event in BC, and it may be one of the longest events of its kind in North America. So come and take the plunge, get your time as you challenge yourself and others in your age category for medals and prizes.

Since its beginning in 1949 as part of the Kelowna Regatta, the Across The Lake Swim has always been more a demonstration of swimming ability than just simply a race. Each summer, swimmers young and old who have developed their swimming skills and their endurance abilities challenge themselves to swim two full kilometers across our great Lake Okanagan. The swim course runs from the Old Ferry Docks in West Kelowna to Hot Sands Beach in City Park.

With the continued growth of the event, they have secured their first ever title sponsor, Interior Savings, who is proud to support this local community event in their 62nd year.

Back by popular demand, the $5 house boat ferry is a great way to avoid a long gravelly walk from your parked car half way up Old Ferry Wharf Road. Both the Executive Boardroom and the Okanagan Princess will be onsite to drop off swimmers and carry spectators during the race.
