3rd Annual Okanagan Pride in City Park

Today marks the third day of the 3rd annual Okanagan Pride and festivities are taking place in City Park as we speak type! Pride officially kicked off on Wednesday with the only local screening of the critically acclaimed documentary Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride at the Okanagan College Student Services Building Theatre. The film follows the Vancouver Pride Parade Director as he travels the world and examines pride celebrations internationally.

Events today include a family-friendly afternoon of entertainment and the annual Pooches on Parade! There are booths from Sun FM, TD Bank, Gay Whistler, Starbucks and other great products, as well as some fabulous Canadian performers including alt-pop Jeffrey Straker, and singer/songwriter Carly Thomas all for free until 4:00pm today. The night will be capped off with the official Pride Dance and After Party (After Party location TBA). Among all the colour and fun there are some great information pieces such as a large map detailing LGBTTQ rights around the world and an enlightening six-foot tall cereal box.
