Vancouver Trifecta Lands in Kelowna – June 18

Just by merely looking at this lineup I start giggling and clapping my hands like a little schoolgirl…  Red Cedar, Minto and Sun Wizard will be popping by Habitat on June 18, 2011 for a show jam-packed with alt-country riffs, folky crooning, psych-rock jams and beards.

Red Cedar - Show PosterVancouver-based artists Red Cedar and Minto have graced our city before (and even have some close connections to Kelowna) but this will be Sun Wizard’s first stop in Kelowna (Disclaimer: correct me if I’m wrong but as my memory serves me and as Google tells me, what I say is true). If you haven’t heard their track “World’s Got A Handle” yet then I advise you to CTRL+T and go to www.myspace.com/thesunwizard right now. This quote from their bio sums them up to a tee: “Sun Wizard could easily be Jack White’s younger brothers, Tom Petty’s nephews, or Bob Dylan’s grandchildren. In short, they sound like a real band; a band that have always been there.” Comparisons aside, this band will win over your heart on their own merit.

Add Red Cedar and Minto (and a couple pints) into the mix and you’ve got yourself the perfect show to kickstart the summer.  Tickets are $10 advance and are available at Leo’s Video. Tweaked and Yummy Vintage Apparel, and online at estore.thehabitat.ca – tickets at the door are $15. Doors open at 8pm and the show kicks off at 9pm so put on your boots, come on down and say hello to your favorite bartender (ahem) then get ready for a night of pure rockin’ Canadiana.
