Victoria Alt-Rockers Michael Wood Band Tour Stops in Kelowna

Michael Woods Band

Victoria’s Michael Wood Band will be performing in Kelowna January 24 & 25 as part of their tour of western Canada. The group is kicking off its circuit in Saskatoon March 18, followed by stops in several cities in Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC, and ending in Toronto during Canadian Music Week.

“It’s really great to see people responding so positively to our music.” says frontman Michael Wood. “People hear the songs and see our video for the single ‘End of the World’ and are really excited to have us out to play. It’s been really encouraging.” Michael Wood Band has an alt-rock sound described as “the Killers meets Kings of Leon with an infectious groove,” and an enthusiastic stage show which never fails to engage their audience.

The past year has been a busy one for MWB. Their first album “Occupy This” was released in May, and extensive performing ensued. The band played everything from small charity shows to large festivals, including dates at the Calgary Stampede where their high energy shows entertained the crowds. Fans have fawned over a guitar driven take on Foster the People’s hit “Pumped Up Kicks”.

The band is receiving radio play nationwide, and the original song “I Think I’ll Just Go To Bed” has won them the new artist of the month on Ontario’s CKXS 99.1 FM. Recently they were selected as finalists in the Amp Records and Fox FM Band Fight held this fall in Vancouver. Michael Wood Band will be in Kelowna January 24 at the Minstrel Cafe and at Doc’s with Toronto’s Bootleg Glory, on January 25 starting at 10pm ($10) For more tour dates please visit his website.
