Focus Fridays

Our snapshots of life and art in the Okanagan, Focus Fridays are single pictures from local photographers, curated by Jeremy Hiebert. They feature interesting, aesthetically pleasing, well-composed, all-around A-OK shots.

Focus Friday: Late January Sunset

There’s something about the angle of the sun on the lake these days that seems to hint at the coming of spring. It’s also nice that the sunsets have the grace to occur in the evening instead of mid-afternoon.

Focus Friday: Kelowna Dock

Kalamalka Lake

We’re on that seasonal roller coaster between winter and spring, getting teased with warmth for a few days and then waking up to snow. Embracing the beauty of the season seems to temper that disappointment.

Focus Friday: Upside Down

Another moody, reflective shot for the shorter days of the year. Lori’s got a wonderful mix of photos; eclectic and whimsical.

Focus Friday: An Angel

I picked stjoe’s thoughtful silhouette for this reflective time of year. It was one of 20+ Okanagan shots submitted for the Best-of-the-Year gallery on Flickr. Happy New Year, Awesome Okanaganites.

Focus Friday: Orchard Shack

The valley seems so black and white these days. Looking forward to the colour seeping  back into the landscape as the days get longer.

Focus Friday: Long Way Home…

Nighttime view from Kelowna’s new pedestrian overpass — I liked the wet winter vibe, garish lights and that trippy purple sky.
